Course Description
In today’s complex business environment, it is becoming increasingly important for property managers to know how to address legal and risk management issues. This course will provide a foundation in the basic principles of law and risk management, helping you deal with everyday legal and risk issues.
The new application-based microlessons provide a guided tutorial for the correct process of creating a deed and the legal aspects of enforcing it, tools and strategies to ensure your lease agreements are fully compliant – minimizing risks and maximizing returns, and an understanding of how to manage insurance coverage strategically, ensuring optimal protection while avoiding over-insurance pitfalls.
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
Discuss the issues surrounding contracting law
Explain the legal aspects of real estate financing
Understand environmental law and land use
Identify potential legal liability situations
Formulate effective loss control programs
Understand insurance policies needed to help protect your company from potential liability claims
Describe how underwriting for insurance affects your coverage

Cost and Payment
Cost for the course is $1,000 for BOMA members and $1,500 for non-BOMA members.
Membership in BOMA Idaho for a Property Manager is $275 (does not include events, you register and attend only when your schedule permits).
Once you complete your online registration, you will receive an invoice from BOMA Idaho Quickbooks/Intuit.
Payment is due no later than April 16, 2025.

Course Description
This course provides information property and facility managers will need to make management decisions about various building systems and sites. These decisions will increase occupant safety and comfort while facilitating building efficiency to meet an organization’s business goals. This course is about understanding electrical systems and lighting, elevator maintenance and modernization, and pest and solid waste management. Other areas of interest covered in this course include security issues, fire and life-safety systems, and energy management concerns.
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
Effectively analyze, manage, and optimize building systems
Identify opportunities to increase the efficiency of building systems
Understand the successful management of pests, solid wastes, energy, and security and life-safety systems.
